Terms & Conditions

1. Definitions

In these terms:

  • "We", "us", "our" refers to Heritageford, registered in Malaysia, with a place of business at 18 Jalan Petaling, 50000 Kuala Lumpur.
  • "You", "user" refers to any individual who accesses our website, enquires about our programmes, or engages us to provide services.
  • "Services" refers to the Bookshelf Archive Programme, the Heritage Reading Card, and the Small-Group Inventory Workshop.
  • "Content" refers to all text, images, documents, and materials on our website.
  • "Agreement" refers to these Terms and Conditions, which form a binding agreement between you and us.

2. Acceptance of terms

By accessing our website or engaging our services, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement. If you are acting on behalf of a family or organisation, you confirm that you have authority to do so.

3. Description of services

Heritageford provides archival and educational services for individuals and families in Malaysia. Our services are archival, documentary, and educational in nature. They do not constitute legal, financial, medical, or any other form of regulated professional advice.

  • Bookshelf Archive Programme — cataloguing of books and printed materials in the family home. Deliverable is a printed bound catalogue and digital archive.
  • Heritage Reading Card — a printed educational resource sold as a standalone item.
  • Small-Group Inventory Workshop — a half-day facilitated workshop for adults. Includes printed workbook and labelled folder.

We reserve the right to decline an engagement if the scope falls outside our expertise or if we cannot offer a programme that is genuinely appropriate for the enquirer's situation.

4. User responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate information when making an enquiry or booking a service
  • Ensure our staff can access the relevant materials safely during home visits
  • Not engage us for purposes other than those described in the service description
  • Not misrepresent the nature or contents of a collection in order to influence a service outcome

5. Intellectual property

All content on our website — including text, design, and imagery — is the property of Heritageford or is used with permission. You may not reproduce, distribute, or republish any content without prior written consent.

The printed catalogue produced as part of the Bookshelf Archive Programme is the property of the client upon delivery and payment in full. We retain no rights over the content of that catalogue after delivery.

The Heritage Reading Card and workshop workbooks are licensed for personal use. They may not be reproduced, photocopied, or distributed without our consent.

6. Payment terms

Fees are as stated on our website and in written confirmation at the time of booking. All fees are in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR). Payment terms are as follows:

  • Bookshelf Archive Programme (RM 3,250) — a 50% deposit is payable on booking. The remaining balance is payable upon delivery of the printed catalogue.
  • Heritage Reading Card (RM 140) — full payment at the time of order.
  • Inventory Workshop (RM 460 per participant) — full payment at least 5 working days before the scheduled session date.

We accept payment by bank transfer. Details are provided upon booking confirmation.

7. Cancellations and changes

  • Bookshelf Archive Programme — you may pause or reschedule visits with at least 48 hours' notice. If the programme is cancelled after the assessment visit, the 50% deposit is non-refundable.
  • Heritage Reading Card — we do not accept returns of physical items unless they arrive damaged or defective.
  • Inventory Workshop — cancellations made at least 5 working days before the session receive a full refund. Cancellations made within 5 working days are non-refundable, though we will try to transfer your booking to the next available session where possible.

8. Disclaimers

Our services are provided in good faith and to a professional standard, but we make no representations about specific outcomes. In particular:

  • We do not assess the monetary value of any item in a collection
  • We do not advise on the legal, financial, or personal significance of documents
  • The Heritage Reading Card and workshop content are general educational resources and do not constitute advice on any individual's circumstances
  • Catalogue condition notes are descriptive and are not professional conservation assessments

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by Malaysian law, our total liability to you in connection with any service is limited to the fee paid for that service. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from the use of our services or the information provided through them.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia. We encourage informal resolution in the first instance — please write to [email protected] to raise a concern before initiating formal proceedings.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of our services after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
