What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work properly and to help the people who run them understand how their site is being used.

Most cookies do nothing more than remember a small piece of information between your visit and the next. They do not contain personal details such as your name or financial information, and they cannot run programmes or deliver viruses to your device.

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Information about how to do this is set out later on this page.

Cookies we use

Essential cookies

Always on

These cookies are necessary for the website to function. They cannot be switched off. They are set in response to actions you take, such as filling in a form or setting your cookie preferences. Without them, some parts of the site would not work.

Examples: consent record, session continuity

Analytics cookies

These cookies help us understand how visitors use our website. The information gathered is aggregated and does not identify individuals. We use this to improve how the site is organised and written.

Examples: pages viewed, time on site, general traffic source (via Google Analytics)

Marketing cookies

These cookies record your visit to our site and may be used to make advertising more relevant to you. They may be set by advertising partners we work with. We do not sell this data.

Examples: advertising platform tracking (Google Ads, Meta Pixel)

Preference cookies

These cookies remember choices you have made on the site — for example, your region or language preference — so that we do not need to ask you again on future visits.

Examples: language setting, display preferences

Your preferences have been saved.

Third-party cookies

Some cookies are set by services we use to help run and measure the site. These third parties have their own privacy policies which govern how they use the information.

We do not embed social media feeds or other third-party content that would set cookies without your knowledge.

How long cookies last

Cookies are either session cookies or persistent cookies.

Your rights

You may withdraw or change your cookie consent at any time using the preference controls on this page. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything that has taken place prior to your withdrawal.

Disabling optional cookies means that some features of the site may work differently or not at all. Essential cookies cannot be disabled as they are required for the site to function.
